Our previous posts have touched upon the subject of “demoralization,” the psychological technique used to gradually bring a person to a point where distinguishing between right and wrong, good and evil, becomes near impossible.
"Nefarious" follows James, a young substitute prison psychiatrist who embodies liberal academic ideals, equating abortion to choice, euthanasia to convenience, and atheism to the sole academic truth.
James is tasked with assessing the sanity of a death row inmate, only to find that the inmate possesses an unnerving knowledge about him. Puzzled by how a condemned prisoner could have such information, James presses for answers until the inmate confesses to being perfectly possessed by the demon ‘Nefariamus’.
In the course of the day-long interview, Nefariamus thoroughly dismantles James' worldview and leads him towards a path of malevolence, initially masking his corrupt intentions with a deceptive portrayal of freedom, as though it were a virtuous pursuit.
The writing of this psychological thriller is next level brilliant and is a clinic on how evil works. So much so the film reminded us of one of our favorite books, The Marketing of Evil: How Radicals, Elitists, and Pseudo-Experts Sell Us Corruption Disguised As Freedom by David Kupelian - a book everyone should read.
Renowned Exorcist Fr. Carlos Martins has reviewed the movie, stating that it masterfully depicts the demonic intellect and mindset.
Nefarious is available on Amazon video and is the must-see film. Feel free to send us your thoughts.
Brilliant movie, Chuck!! No vomit-spewing, head-rotating Linda Blair scenes. A fantastic movie more aligned with CS Lewis revisits The Screwtapes Letters - with a very realistic psychological battle of the minds.
