Barnes: TikTok Bill Overly Broad, Not Limited to China or TikTok. Bans Speech.

Not what it seems...

Remember the Patriot Act? They told us how it would be used to protect us and get the bad guys? Now the bad guys keep getting let go and corrupt judges and the FISA Court have “interpreted” the Patriot Act to turn the 4th Amendment on its head.

The Patriot Act is now used to spy on political candidates, Members of Congress, journalists, intelligence community employees’ ex-girlfriends, and engage in illegal mass surveillance of Americans.

Republicans in Congress and a few Democrats have promised repeatedly to not reauthorize the law, but at the last minute have a sudden change of heart. Speaker Mike Johnson made a big deal how this reform would be a top priority, only to tuck his tail between his legs and do exactly what the deep state told him to do.

[Editor’s Note: We had high hopes for Speaker Mike Johnson. He has broken every promise he has made. He is a phony who wears Jesus on his sleeve which makes his dishonesty even that much more egregious.]

Now we have the TikTok Bill. It is the same as the Patriot Act. They tell you it does one thing, but wow does it do another.

The proposed law is NOT limited to TikTok or China. As proposed it can allow the President to ban/force the sale of ANY social media platform, even if it has just a single foreign stockholder.

But wait, it gets worse, it allows the President to name the owners of a social media platform “agents of a foreign adversary” and seize control or ban the platform, thus banning YOUR speech. Biden could literally say, “Trump is a Russian agent, the government is taking Truth Social.”

The light at the end of the tunnel is that the courts are almost certainly going to rule it unconstitutional should it become law.
