It wasn’t so long ago. The cashier at Walmart would ask if you would like to buy an extended warranty for your electronic gizmo. If you did and the gizmo had a serious issue you could come back with your receipt and exchange the product for a new one.
Not any more.
What the cashier will not tell you is that the extended warranty is with an insurance company. When you read the fine print it tells you that you have to register your extended warranty with the insurance company and if you do and the product breaks in the covered time, they will send you a gift card.
So if you don’t read that fine print….well good luck.
Just when you thought that the shopping experience could not get any worse, they find a way.

I detest the FEMA-campesque lighting in WM stores and in general try to avoid them.
