FLASHBACK: Democrat Operatives Created Fake Russian Bots on Facebook & Twitter to "Collusion Hoax" Senate Candidate
The same operation pushed the Trump/Russia hoax.
They did it to Donald Trump and to Tulsi Gabbard, they also did it to Roy Moore, a Senate candidate in Alabama.
PoliticalArena is revisiting this story as the corporate press was able to suppress it. As a result, most Republicans are not aware of it.
The New York Times report is HERE but it is behind a pay wall.
Fox News:
Democratic operatives, backed by a liberal billionaire and facilitated by a former Obama official, created thousands of fake Russian accounts to give an impression the Russian government was supporting Alabama Republican Roy Moore in last year’s election against now-Sen. Doug Jones.
The secret project, which had a budget of just $100,000 and was carried out on Facebook and Twitter, was revealed after the New York Times obtained an internal report detailing the efforts.
“We orchestrated an elaborate ‘false flag’ operation that planted the idea that the Moore campaign was amplified on social media by a Russian botnet,” the internal report said. It also took credit for “radicalizing Democrats with a Russian bot scandal” after experimenting “with many of the tactics now understood to have influenced the 2016 elections.”
The same players were also a part of the Trump Collusion Hoax:
One participant in the project reportedly was Jonathon Morgan, the chief executive of New Knowledge, a firm that wrote a report – released by the Senate Intelligence Committee earlier this week – about Russia’s social media operations in the 2016 election and its efforts to hurt Hillary Clinton and help Donald Trump.
He reportedly contacted Renée DiResta, who later joined his company and became the leading author of the report about the Russian interference efforts for the firm, asking for suggestions of online tactics that are worth testing.
It was all fake. Fox News:
A cybersecurity company that participated in a disinformation campaign against a Republican candidate in the Alabama Senate race reportedly penned a Senate report touted as a “bombshell” about Russian social media operations in the 2016 presidential election.
New Knowledge, a leading firm on Russia related cyber issues, was one of the two firms whose report on Russian activities during the presidential election was published by the Senate Intelligence Committee earlier this month.
The report claims that the Russians troll farms used all social media platforms and even mobile games such as Pokemon Go to influence the election and allegedly sway voters to President Trump.
“The scale was massive,” New Knowledge researchers wrote of Russian disinformation, with the alleged campaign “reaching 126 million people on Facebook, posting 10.4 million tweets on Twitter, uploading 1,000+ videos to YouTube, and reaching over 20 million users on Instagram.”
“Incredible. These bombshell reports demonstrate just how far Russia went to exploit the fault lines of our society and divide Americans, in an attempt to undermine and manipulate our democracy,” wrote Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Here is Senator Warner’s, tweet promoting the phony Senate report. And the tweet is still up! Warner is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee. Nothing like weaponizing national security to influence elections:
