Here at PoliticalArena we report on corporate media spin and lies regularly, but from time to time, the spin is so laughable that it even catches us shaking our heads.
As PoliticalArena readers are likely aware, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson did not wish to tie aid for Ukraine and Taiwan to the Israel aid package because hanging controversial Ukraine aid over the heads of dead Israeli children is not only against the wishes of most House members, but also morally repugnant.
Speaker Johnson, realizing that the interest payment on the debt alone next year will be $812 billion, is looking to trim spending wherever possible, so the House passed the Israeli aid bill by clawing back $14.5 billion of the ridiculous extra $80 billion for the IRS Democrats passed shortly before the 2022 election.
Senate Democrats and Biden want a $105 billion combined package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan tacked on to this year’s deficit.
This report from CBS News is as amusing as it is dishonest, because according to CBS, taking back some funds from the IRS will raise the deficit, but the Democrats’ plan of just tagging another $105 billion is just fine:
And they wonder why nobody trusts them.
The IRS certainly does not need an extra $80 billion, and our greatest ally needs help to fight terrorists who would otherwise be coming after us. It is about sensible priorities.
