Argentina's Trumpian Maverick: Javier Milei Reduces Inflation for Second Consecutive Month

He has big hair and a smile that would make Willy Wonka jealous. Unconventional libertarian Javier Milei won his recent election promising to slash government spending, get the public debt under control and thus reduce inflation.

After years of socialist governments Argentina amassed the highest inflation rate in the Western world and a poverty rate among the population of a staggering 40%.

Milei eliminated government agencies he deemed “useless,” and is dramatically lowering government spending. He has also enabled banking and currency reforms.

Western establishment know-it-alls and corporate media laughed at him, but when Argentina’s inflation rate lowered in January they stopped laughing. February’s numbers have been released and the inflation rate has lowered again.

Some are amazed at how fast President Milei was able begin to turn the ship of economic stagflation around. There is still a long way to go but at least Argentina can say that the problems have stopped growing worse. Economic responsibility and healing have begun.
